Jeep India needs more popular cars if it wants to capture a larger proportion of the market, even with Compass and Meridian keeping the sales rolling. Despite this, the American company has no qualms about introducing the Grand Cherokee to Indian soil in the near future.

Since Jeep is an SUV brand, it currently lacks a clear rival in the C- and B-segment SUV markets, where the majority of the SUV activity is taking place. Currently having a party here are SUVs like the Tata Nexon, Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, Maruti Brezza, and Hyundai Venue.

Jeep recently debuted the Avenger, their newest Jeep. It is a new generation SUV that is small in size and will be offered in several nations all over the world. For the first time, it has now been seen unmasked on a public road.

The Jeep Avenger SUV sports an FWD configuration and is built on the CMP platform. Jeep’s Selec-Terrain, it has five different drive settings: Eco, Normal, Mud, Sport, and Snow. One can anticipate thrilling performance and agile handling given its 4.1m length. Avenger’s design has a boxy, yet curvy, appearance as shown at the Paris Motor Show.

Launch and Variants

The Jeep Avenger’s debut has been eagerly awaited for a time. Jeep representatives have remained mum on the matter, but it is quite likely that it might debut in India in March 2023. Jeep would want to enter this market with a boom because of the fierce competition.

The Avenger is expected to debut in India in two different trim levels. One will have an ICE, while the other will only have electric power. First off, a Jeep in this market will raise the bar on its own, and an EV version will add to the excitement. Jeep has made a great decision here to ensure that they attract as many clients as possible. Although the battery’s power and capacity have not yet been made public, the estimated range is 400 km. The EV variant will directly compete with Tata and MG cars in the segment.

Petrol Variant

The Jeep Avenger’s engine could be the same 1.2L turbo-petrol unit that we previously saw in the Citroen C3. It generates 190nm and 110HP. Currently, only a 6-speed manual transmission is available with this engine; however, Jeep may also provide an automatic. The power figures are sufficient for this market, but coming from a brand like Jeep, we do expect more.

Drive Variants

Sadly, the Avenger won’t likely have a fully functional 4WD system. Given that it is built on the same CMP platform as the Citroen C3, a 4WD module appears quite improbable. However, the EV version might have an AWD system. The Jeep Avenger won’t be this market’s best off-road vehicle.

Price

Jeep is a premium brand by nature, so if it wants to flourish in this market, it will need to be aggressive with pricing. Price estimates for the Jeep Avenger range from Rs. 12 to Rs. 20 lakhs. The projected price range for the EV version is Rs. 16–22 lakhs. The Avenger might be a great success for Jeep if they maintain this pricing.

Size and Dimensions

Due to its size, the Jeep Avenger cannot fit in the compact SUV category. Avenger is a somewhat larger and more upscale sub-compact SUV that follows Jeep’s product strategy in India. Compass is a somewhat larger and more upscale small SUV. The Meridian is a more upscale and slightly larger D1 SUV.

Design and features

The Avenger also features the customary seven-slot grille, split headlamps, and tiny LED daytime running lamps (DRLs) that are placed directly below the bonnet line. The 18-inch alloy wheels, a powerful shoulder line, squared-off tail lamps with X-shaped LED lighting, and a noticeable quantity of black body cladding are some of its other exterior characteristics.

The big 10.25-inch touchscreen and digital driver’s display are the centre pieces of the Avenger’s simple interior design. The dashboard features a body-coloured strip running the length of it that the rectangular AC vents are perfectly incorporated into. Along with other features, the SUV has ambient lighting, adaptive dual-zone climate control, cruise control, and rain-sensing wipers.
