October is the month of festivities. With Navratri, Dhanteras, and Diwali, this auspicious month is usually the one that fetches the best sales results in the year. With 29% YoY growth in passenger vehicle sales, It’s indeed, and Happy Diwali for the Carmakers.

Here are the Top 10 best-selling cars brands in the month of October

1. Maruti Suzuki India

Once again with car sales of 1,40,337 units in October 2022 month, Maruti Suzuki is the leader of the passenger market in India. This shows an increase in sales of 31,346 units or 28.76 percent more than the previous year’s total sales.

Maruti Suzuki sold 1,08,991 passenger vehicles in total during the month of October 2021.

Maruti also disclosed an increase in sales of its compact cars, including the Baleno, Celerio, Dzire, Ignis, Swift, Tour S, and WagonR, from 48,690 units in October 2021 to 73,685 units in October 2022.

2. Hyundai Motor India

With selling 48,001 vehicles in October 2022, Hyundai is the second largest seller of vehicles in festivity month. It recorded a YoY growth of 29.66%. The midsize SUV Creta and compact SUV Venue from the Korean automaker were the best-selling models in those categories.

3. Tata Motors India

Tata Motors sold 45,217 units gets third place. The Indian automaker nearly finished second several times in the preceding months. This is due to the fact that Tata is doing pretty well and that some of the safest vehicles in India are part of its product line.

Sales of electric vehicles (EVs) by the company, including domestic and international sales, increased to 4,277 units in October 2022 from 1,660 units in October 2021.

Also worth noting is that the corporation hasn’t provided information on domestic EV sales for the month. The four electric vehicle models in Tata Motors’ portfolio—the Nexon EV, Tigor EV, Tiago EV, and the fleet-only XPres-T EV—have achieved their highest monthly sales to date.

4. Mahindra& Mahindra

Mahindra with 32,298 vehicles sold stands in the fourth position. YoY growth is at 60.45% Mahindra has found tremendous success as a result of its new SUV line-up.

In the country, Mahindra currently offers the XUV700, Scorpio N, Scorpio Classic, XUV300, Bolero, and Bolero Neo. In FY23, the company sold 1,99,278 UVs, representing a 78% increase over the same period in the previous fiscal.

5. Kia India

Kia, another automaker from Korea, is rated sixth. Given how few international manufacturers can succeed there, the company has done admirably since it was launched in India. Kia sold 23,323 units in October 2022, up 43% from October 2021.

Kia Seltos was the best seller with 9,777 units sold. The luxury MPV Carnival sold 301 units, the MPV Carens 5,479 units, and the small SUV Sonet 7,614 units, according to Kia. 152 units of its electric EV6 crossover were sold.

Kia has sold 1,55,285 units overall during the current fiscal year, which is a 48% increase over the 1,04,714 units sold during the same period the previous year.

6. Toyota

Known for its Quality, Durability, and Reliability, Toyota sold 13,143 units of cars in India in October 2022. Toyota also recorded YoY growth of 5.65%. Car models such as Fortuner, Camry, and Vellfire got good orders.

7. Honda

Honda reported total sales of 9,543 units, an 18% increase over the previous year. The Amaze compact sedan, which is their entry-level model, was the automaker’s best-selling vehicle last month. The Honda City is currently the company’s best-selling vehicle.

8. Renault

Renault sold 7,778 units and was the 8th most-sold carmaker in India. With negative growth YoY despite improving on their customer services, they have a variety of vehicles lined up.

9. MG

MG Motor India recorded 4,367 retail sales, a 53 percent YoY increase. MG stated that strong sales results were achieved as a result of the maximum production output of 5,008 units. This increase was driven by MG ZS EV which 784 units sold, its highest sales figures since its launch.

Additionally, MG Motor disclosed its intention to introduce the new MG Air electric vehicle to the Indian market in the first quarter of 2023.

10. Volkswagen

German carmaker Volkswagen sold 3,510 and is the 10th largest carmaker in India. It’s recorded YoY growth of 14.07%. They benefitted from the introduction of the Virtus sedan and Taigun SUV.
